Serbia and Croatia along the Danube

There is so much I did not know about this part of the world. It is very beautiful but the signs of the wars are still evident. Everyday we saw castles, palaces and museums.
We did a lot of walking in the cities.

We visited the palace in Belgrade which is still occupied by the first family.

There is a chapel next to the home. There is a painting of Christ on it. When the Nazis came during the war they shot the picture of Christ in the forehead and the heart. They decided to keep it that way.
The home is so beautiful. Every room was as amazing as can be.

This painting was hanging on the stair well. It was amazing. Pictures do not do it justice.

Our next stop was at the mausoleum where Tito is buried. Again I did not know much about him. The guards were very creepy.

On the bus ride back to the boat we passed man who has always dressed in garbage bags. I have since learned that he passed away.

Todays activity was little cooking lesson. We drove out to a farm. The family taught us how to make a roll filled with jam. It was a quiet activity compared to all of the fast paced tours we have been doing. They served us vodka at first. We all tried to hide it or pour it out.

After sampling our goodies we walked around the property. It was very clean and orderly.

Our next stop was at Vucavar in Croatia. I remember what happened here years ago. They had rounded up close to 300 young men who were at the hospital. The Serbians came and took them to a farm. They were gathered into the barn and tortured. Then they were taken out n small groups and shot. They dumped them into a trench. It was such a terrible place. Very somber to see it. The bullets are embedded into the concrete. You can stills see the bullet holes. Pictures of all of the young man are projected on the walls along with their belongings.

We walked around the town. There are still remnants of the war with Serbia.

There is a museum of archeological digs. Europe has such a long rich history.

There is a place where everyone puts a lock on the fence to show your love. Then everyone had to kiss in front if it.
 Scenes in the city.
