This is what I saw today

I have taken up walking to and from work. Rain or shine, hot or cold. Just like the mailman.
Today I decided to take the camera along because I see so many neat things that I never knew were there. Here is one thing I discovered today. You could never get lost because you can see the McDonald's sign towering above the trees no matter where you are. Every day I try to take a little different route, zig zagging through the streets. I have learned which side of the street to walk on to avoid the sun or wind. I know who ignored the city rules, that you have to have a side walk. It is not cool to have to step out into the street when the side walk ends for one yard. I know who takes care of their yard and who does not. That is not cool either.
Today I saw these gorgeous irises. They belong to Dr. Gates (I bet they really belong to Kathy Gates).

One of the coolest things that I never would have known about is the family of owls. So far I have seen three baby owls. They are big babies. They hang out together and seem to enjoy having their pictures taken. There is a famous picture in IF of an owl. The photographer said to the owl, just drop it and the owl dropped his wing and the result is a beautiful picture. So I tried it...just drop it and he did. Not a gorgeous photo however. His face is hidden but an action shot non the less.

It is pouring rain right now so we will see if I need to take the canoe in the morning.

Sorry about the Columbian flower post. Not sure why it would not play. I will try to fix and repost it.

Hope you waved when you walked by Gates house! You are a animal! Walking to work everyday, wow. I should be so good but at 0600 I'm always running late.
I bet your yard looks gorgeous with all this rain.

The owl pics are really cool! I think it's great that you walk to and from work. So inspiring to me. I love to walk around my neighborhood too and check out everyones cute houses and gardens. I'll have to do a post like yours someday.

Mary, I'm thinking that was probably a plant I planted back in 1982 when I lived in that house. No wonder it's sooooo beautiful.HA HA!! What a great walk and some good exercise every morning, it's probably amazing what you see on your walk to work.

Wow! Flowers and even owls on your way to work! I admire you for sticking to it, rain or shine. I also love the way you are taking the time to really enjoy the sights, smells, and sounds of your journey each day.
