A little trip to Webster Dam

Monday evening we jumped in the RZR's and headed up to see Websters Dam. I have heard about it my entire life but have never seen it. So we took some chicken and some friends and headed up. On the way Bart gave us a little history lesson. He told us about the ghost town of Herbert Idaho, just a couple of miles from my house. Next we stopped at the "warming hut" that Charlene's Dad built. It is still there with a wood burning stove I guess for when someone needs to get out of the weather.
We made it to the dam. There is a creek running through it and a nice little spot for a picnic. The ride down was a bit hairy for me, but Jeff is a champ and we did fine.
Fried chicken, drinks and some crackers and salad. We even had ice cream. We ate our little feast and looked around the area. Very fun area. You can see where the moose sleep.
On our way back it got dark. The full moon came up. It was magical. We saw moose, a flying owl and Charlene spotted a bear.
We made it home safe and sound. Pretty dirty but what a great night we had.
This is a picture of one of the Herbert homes that remains. We need to go explore a little more. Apparently there are more buildings still there.
