Music and concert memories

This morning I was watching an infomercial for "Flower Power"...a CD set of 60's music. I own a couple of these sets already. I was in a happy place listening to the music and realized that I have been to a lot of concerts in my life. We love to go to them. So I decided to post all that I can remember. I have tried over the years (since I married Jeff) to keep all ticket stubs of everything we go to so I have lots of these stubs still) Here goes:

  1. Donny Osmond & Oliver (went with Mom and Beth)
  2. Iron Butterfly (remember In-a-gadda-da-vida)
  3. Grand Funk Railroad (Minneapolis)
  4. America
  5. Ike & Tina Turner (Jeff says he was at this same concert)
  6. Alice Cooper (at the Salt Flats)
  7. Three Dog Night (he says he was here too)
  8. Crosby, Stills, Nash (so sorry no Young)
  9. Tom Jones
  10. Beach Boys
  11. Elton John
  12. Donny & Marie
  13. KC & the Sunshine Band
  14. The Guess Who
  15. The Who (on Lake Michigan with Beth in Milwaukee)
  16. Kenny Rogers (with the kids)
  17. Neil Diamond (twice)
  18. Paul Revere and the Raiders
  19. Shania Twain
  20. Richie Havens
  21. Garth Brooks (three times)
  22. ZZ Top
  23. The Rolling Stones (SLC and Chicago)
  24. Seal
  25. Burt Bacharach
  26. Erasure (with the kids)
  27. Ann Murry
  28. Neil Sedaka
  29. Little River Band
  30. Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (bar in Sun Valley) (and in Jackson Hole)
  31. Amy Grant & Vince Gill
  32. Martina McBride
  33. Alison Kraus (in Jackson Hole)
  34. 1964 ( a Beatles knock off that do a great job)
  35. Alan Jackson
  36. Sawyer Brown (twice)
  37. Herman's Hermits (two days after I had my appendix out)
  38. Kurt Bestor
  39. Mormon Taberncale Choir
  40. The Dali Lama (not a concert but in my ticket box)
  41. David Cassidy (Las Vegas)
  42. Marvin Goldstein
  43. Peter Brienholdt
  44. Billy Ray Cyrus
  45. The Judds
  46. The Jetts
  47. Air Supply
  48. I know I have forgotten some. I will blog them as I remember them.

Now you will all ask what was my favorite concert of all time. I have to say it is the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in Sun Valley. We were in the Mint (Bruce Willis bar). They played to a tiny group and we danced to every song. Jeff actually likes to dance. (sorry girls, he really is a dream of a guy) It was fun, romantic and a bit magical. We had not planned to go, just dropped in. Jeff says his favorite was the Rolling Stones. Not quite the same atmosphere. We were the only ones there not stoned.

My second choice is Neil Diamond. After all these years he still loves to sing and you can tell.

My least favorite? Definitely ZZ Top. I love some of their music but it was hardly recognizable.

Who do I still want to see? I would say, Bruce Springstein and maybe Van Morrison and of course Eric Clapton singing Layla, my all time favorite song.. The oldies are still the best.

After you play the clip below it will let you choose from other versions. A Layla fest.

I just added another version. Jeff and I looked at all of them and the second one is our favorite. Look who all is playing with him! WOW. Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Bill Wyman, Charlie Watts, Steve Winwood. Which version do you like the best? You will have to take a little time to check them out as it is a long song. But well worth it. Do I get the award for the longest post?

Thursday in Rexburg

There is a strange thing happening at the Temple. When it is snowing just right the lights combined with snow, furnace steam and wind etc looks like flames coming from the roof of the temple. The fire department gets bombarded with calls. I took this from my front porch. Kind of hard to see, try clicking on the picture.
We have started Phase 2 of the construction project. We moved into the first part. This is Jeff near his work station.
This is looking west at the Nurses station. Below is looking out of the now deserted lab windows. We moved them into the break room and old procedure room. What a job that has been.

My birthday!

I had a really nice birthday this year. It was a great Holiday also. I got up and Jeff the most romantic guy there is, gave me my presents right away. A pole for putting the camera on to steady it. And of course a beautiful ring. I went to work and worked really hard. We are moving the west end of the Medical Center to the east end. The lab to the break room, DermaChic to the other end and all of the supplies to the basement. Are you wore out yet? I am!!!
As I was driving to work I saw this bunch of Quails on the road. They fled as my car approached them. There were a lot of them.
I captured another morning shot of the Temple. The skies have been so pretty this year making a never ending variety of backdrops.

Towards the end of the day a delivery guy brought me the biggest bouquet of flowers I have ever seen. There is a rose for each year of my life. Isn't he a sweetheart! He was working in the Temple as a Medical person and called me to see if anything exciting was going on. I said no, minutes later the flowers showed up! After work we went to dinner with Bart & Joanne. We went to Apple Bee's and had a great meal. We sat at the bar thinking we were pretty cool. We ordered milkshakes for dessert. They were the best I have ever had. All in all a great day.
