Needing a break...Hawaii coming just in time

I am using this day and space to release a little tension. It has been a rough week. On Friday Jeff and I are headed to Kauai for a week. Alone! It has been years since we have had a vacation alone. We love all the things we do and people that we travel around the world with, family vacations etc. However we are thrilled that we will have a week to rest and have fun together.
So I will tell you about our week. It started last weekend with Debbie Zollinger (Jack's wife) having some serious complications from an elective surgery. Long story short is that she ended up being Life Flighted to Salt Lake City with life threatening problems. She is slowly recovering but for a couple of days it was questioned if she would live. Sigh!
We are heavy in to remodel and construction at the office. All has been going pretty well until this week. They started digging out back for the addition. First day of digging the phone line was cut. Very difficult day! Sigh.
That was a week ago. On Thursday they started up again and OOPS turns out we are on a land fill. You would not believe what they dug up 10 feet from the building, car parts, trees, toys, logs, gross stuff. So we had to have attorneys, architects etc for a meeting to decide what to do. They decided that the area had been cleared with test drills so we just had to find a way to legally dispose of it. $$$$$. So now we will be a week cleaning that up. Sigh.
So yesterday morning they came to start digging. I was down in the basement when suddenly the lights went out. I knew what had happened. (You would not believe how dark it is in the basement at RMC). Not to mention the big explosion we heard. You guessed it the power line was severed. (A really big power line). So I went to Ace Hardware and bought 20 flashlights and tons of D batteries. We continued to see patients but had to improvise a lot of things. Like a lantern was given to patients to go into the bathrooms. (can you hear me sighing?)
We are on a very tight deadline to get footings poured before the weather halts us. Everyday seems to throw a curve. I am sure it will all workout but yesterdayI felt very very mentally drained. So now I have vented!
I will tell you a thought I had this morning. Remember our last trip to Peru, one of the nurses brought along a flat Josh? I am thinking of bringing a flat Marion on our trip. How fun for her to get to see Hawaii! Maybe she could strike up something with one of those wild roosters on the Island. So Dad? What do you think?
Oh and I found out yesterday that we have a five hour layover in LAX at the same time that Trevor (nephew missionary) has a long layover at LAX on his way home to Utah. So that will be fun. I was feeling sad that we would miss his homecoming! We will buy him his first hamburger or pizza on US soil.
Ok I am off to do whatever it is I do on Saturdays.

What should I get Dad for Christmas?

http://www.nwtf.org/

OK, I think I found some things that Dad might like for Christmas. Everyone check out the site above (National Wild Turkey Foundation). They have a tab that you can buy cool turkey gifts. I was thinking maybe the NWT license plate. Let me know what you think.

The Birds

So I thought of something in the middle of the night last night. I recently watched The Birds again for about the 20th time. What if there were a new movie called "The Turkeys"? Kind of gets you thinking doesn't it? Only problem is they won't fit down the chimney like the birds do in the movie. But then again Santa makes it down.

Breaking news this morning

It seems my dad has started a turkey revolution. When I turned on the news this morning, I discovered that it is all over the airwaves. Turkeys everywhere are uniting to save fair Marion, the wild turkey in his back yard. So I thought for those of you who do not have TV's I would help spread this news. Time is short, just a little over a week until "turkey day". You can check out their blog to see what I am talking about. Be sure to read the comments.

This lady spent the day out in the freezing weather on a corner in Helena Montana trying to help Marion. She has offered to have Marion shipped to her free of charge where she will live a peaceful life on her ranch where she raises sheep.

This turkey was arrested for promoting the slaughter of hogs. The handsome fellow below claims that Marion was his highschool sweetheart. She dumped him for the lead singer of Counting Crows. He has been heart broken ever since but would like to have a second chance to win her back. He is counting on my dad to do the right thing and spare her on Thanksgiving morning. If he goes ahead with the turkey feast he wonders if he could at least be invited to dinner. He says he knows Harry and Marge and would love to catch up with them.
Now go and do the right thing!
