Oops we did it again!

So you must be wondering what we did again? Well yes we had another fabulous Chicago Deep Dish Pizza. Surely our cholesterol soared after this pizza pie. It was delicious. We think we have settled on Lou Manatis as the best of the best but any of them are to die for. It was sweltering in Chicago today. 90's with 100% humidity. Unheard of this late in the year. We had a quick flight to Minneapolis and then a three hour layover. Unfortunately this is where the oops comes in. THEY CANCELLED OUR FLIGHT!!!! Yes we are stuck in Minneapolis for the night. That is us homeless on the airport bench. They do not give you a room anymore. No food on the planes either. So we got a room at the Courtyard Marriott which is right across the street from the Mall of America. I can see it out the window. But it isn't open this late at night. That is hard for me as I really love a good Mall. For you former Minnesotans, I think this Hotel may be built nearly where we used to live. Very very close if not on the spot. We went under the freeway that we used to run across to sneak into the Minnesota Twins stadium every game. Those stadiums are now gone and the Mall in it's place.
Well we will try again tomorrow! Good night all.

Vince & Amy

The Amy Grant & Vince Gill concert was good. We sat pretty close to the stage. Everyone thought they were seats you would not be able to see from but as you can see it was a great view. Because it is a private party/concert you could take pictures. The Nikon D40 went with us. These pictures were taken without a flash in the dark auditorium. Not bad and I highly recommend the camera.
Today we head home. We have a few hours until we leave for the airport. We are going to squeeze in one more pizza. Last night we had to ditch the pizza quest because of time needed to get to the concert. But we went to a great place called Rosebud which was supposedly Frank Sinatra's favorite place to eat in Chicago. Minestrone soup and salad which was on our diets!

Oh and by the way Vince Gill is being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame this month.

Chicago and the perfect pizza quest

I walked for miles and miles today. I went by myself this morning along Lake Michigan. The Chicago Marathon is Sunday and there is lots going on to get ready for it. I swear there is a mile of Porta potties.
Then I met Jeff at 11:30 at the convention center. I was early so I walked around inside of it. It goes forever. We walked all afternoon through the booths of vendors and drug companies. Got bags of pens and doodads. For dinner we went to Ginos East for pizza day # 2. Remember we are on the quest to see who really has the best pizza in Chicago. Chicago is famous for deep dish pizza. They do it very well. The pizza was delicious but we cannot decide yet which of the two we have tried is the best. As you can see the cheese was so stretchy, that on my first bite it flipped up onto my face. I looked on line and found this blog that tells how to make the pizza at Gino's East which in Chicago many say is the best of all pizza's.

We walked back a couple of miles to our Hotel. We stopped in this park and took the pictures at the water walls. They are bigger than they look. They rotate designs on them. The one with the face was looking around, blinking etc. Just when we went to walk away it started spitting water. These walls are actually water falls with water falling over them. Pretty cool.
Friday is Vince Gill/Amy Grant and pizza parlor #3. It is pure summer here. Balmy 80's and sunny.

Chicago Day 2

We had a great day today. Walked for hours downtown and looked around. We checked out American Girls and watched all of the boats go under the draw bridge. I went and saw Mary Maitlyn and James Carvelle speak. They mostly made fun of politics.

Tonight we went to Lou Malnatis http://www.loumalnatis.com/for dinner and had a great pizza and salad. Then we walked some more. Saw our guy who was so yucky last night except this time we were in a taxi.

Chicago adventure

We arrived last night in Chicago. It took us nearly as long to get here as it does to get to some places in South America. They were having some tough weather and closed airports, they cancelled one of our flights. But we made it. We love our hotel...the Chicago Hilton. Our room has a his and hers bathroom, we each have our own.
Last night we walked down the street to get something to eat. Some guy latched onto Jeff and wanted him to buy him a hamburger down a dark street. Yea right!! I was mad at this guys persistence. Jeff (duh) had told him already what Hotel we were staying in. When we passed a Hotel I said I needed to go in and buy some water. The guy yelled at me that I was at the wrong place. Jeff finally came in, we crossed the Hotel and found another way out. Sure enough the guy was waiting for us. He started calling me a bitch for trying to ditch him. Now I was pretty nervous. He just stuck to Jeff like glue wanting him to come with him. I envisioned the murder in the movie Ghost on the street. We made it to our Hotel with him still yelling at us. Yuck!
Today Jeff has a class at 1:30. I am going to the opening session where James Carvelle and Mary Maitlyn are speaking. We are going to do some birthday shopping today. AMERICAN GIRL is just down the street. So Ana and Grace have birthdays this month...wonder what they will get.
Dinner tonight? We are on the quest to have the best pizza in the world. We are polling people and are confident that we will find it. And yes we will stay on our diets. Between us we have lost around 40 pounds.
The pictures are of a cool river in what we think was South Dakota. Looked like a Chinese dragon to me. Fall colors in Minneapolis as we landed. The next is the mechanics trying to get our luggage out of the overhead which would not open. Took us a half of an hour to get it out. Yes it was a flying adventure day. Finally the view of the skyline from our Hotel window.

Airport delays

So we are sitting in the Idaho Falls airport waiting to board our plane to Minneapolis then on to Chicago. The airport in Minneapolis is closed due to weather and Chicago is also having troubles. So no idea how long we will be here. Fun huh!

The light just went on

OK, I just discovered something that I never knew, so will share with all of you bloggers out there. I guess the light went on! If you click on the title of the blog it opens up the comments. I have always clicked on the comments bar to see everyone's conversations. This just pops them open on the page. Cool!

Take a look at this link

I was looking around the internet this week and checked out this site (below). I sent them some of my temple pictures and they posted them. You look at the construction photos link and will see them along with some really beautiful ones by some other people.
Oh and the picture above is a random one of us meeting Lonnie Anderson (click on it to see her up close, and don't I like look like a farm girl next to her) at the AAFP (American Academy of Family Physicians) convention a couple of years ago in Atlanta. We are headed to the AAFP again on Tuesday in Chicago. HHMMMM, wonder who we will meet this year, maybe Burt Reynolds. Stay tuned.
