You are the Sunshine of My Life

Yesterdays post was about sunshine. Today I found this beautiful picture of a sunset. When you look at it enlarged it shows an elderly man and woman each looking away from the sunset in opposite directions. How like a relationship. You can spend the entire day together and never see the same things.

The reason I was looking around for a picture of an elderly couple was because I was going to write about aging. We are helping look after Jeff's Dad and his wife Nell. They seem to fall alot lately. Tonight we went to his Uncle Keith and Aunt Ann's. She had fallen and needed some help. It is hard to watch them grow old and helpless. It is equally hard to watch yourself begin to ache and creak.

Again I am thankful for sunshine and also the sunshine of my life...

Oh and by the way Jeff, wanna watch the sun set tonight?

I'm Walking on Sunshine

I just went for my daily walk. I loved the beautiful sunshiny morning. (And I love the song I'm Walking on Sunshine). I have been walking most mornings for about three years now. Usually I meet up with a group of friends but sometimes go alone. We have a set routine but sometimes wander off the beaten path. I always regret it when I miss the walk.

It is very interesting the little pieces of life that are magnified in our walks. We watched the Temple Construction from close up. Even made friends with the steel and crane operators. Sometimes they would share information that was not yet public as we walked by them. Many friends walk by along the way and it is nice to share a hello with them.

In Idaho some mornings are miserable, but seem less miserable by the company. The days I refuse to go out walking are the very windy days. Snow, light rain, cold days do not stop me.

We laugh a lot, share recipes, house keeping tips and buoy each other up. There is Kari who keeps the pace just at being able to have a conversation. Diane who never misses and sets the standard for diligence. Robin who takes turns with me staggering out the front door from a dead sleep. We turn our porch lights on to signal that we are searching for a pair of socks or mittens but are coming. I have to mention the morning that I ran down the stairs in the dark to hit the light switch as I was a little late. I missed the bottom three steps and landed in a heap on the floor. So there is an element of risk in this walking thing.

What I love the most are the summer months when the sun is up when we start. In the winter we walk the entire way in the dark.

Today I am thankful for SUNSHINE and that I was able to take an hour to walk in it. It's gonna be a bright, bright, sunshiny day! (Just think of all the songs you can hum that have to do with sunshine). Post your favorite sunshine song in the comments!
